Consultation Appointments

What should I expect at my consultation appointment?

Our new patient coordinator will call you to have a discussion about what you’re looking for.

At the consultation appointment, we will take you on a tour of the office, pointing out some of the aspects of our practice that makes us different. She will spend time with you discussing your hopes and dreams for your mouth. The best way to communicate dentistry is with photographs. Dr. Highsmith will meet you and take photographs of your mouth to help you to understand your options.

The first consultation is not a comprehensive examination. Many people want to just get an idea of what their general options are, and if this is the right office for them. At the end of the consult, you’ll have a much better idea of what’s going on in your mouth and a general idea of your options. You’ll have a ballpark idea of what treatment costs as well.

For our patients who travel an hour or more to see us, we can consolidate the consult and examination.

The next step, if you want to proceed, is a comprehensive examination. This does include all necessary radiographs, including a Cat Scan if appropriate. We’ll do a detailed examination of your mouth so that we know everything that could cause you not to meet your long term goals for your mouth.

After the consultation and examination, you should have a clear understanding of:

  • What we see in your mouth.
  • What it means.
  • What are your options.

Then it’s up to you to decide what you want to do!
